This past weekend Trev and I went to Vegas with his parents. We had the best time with them and got to enjoy the sunshine the entire time we were away!
We flew down on Thursday and arrived around lunch time. Since Russ and Linda had never been off of the strip, I took them out to Green Valley Ranch and we had a delicious buffet! We practically had to roll ourselves back out to the car. I showed them where my grandparent’s place in GV was and then we hit the road up to my parent’s place in NW Vegas. After settling in we took off to Summerlin and ended at the JW Marriott for massages at the spa, best idea ever! It was super relaxing to enjoy the sun and be treated to a massage, it definitely helped us sleep that night! We had dinner at Gordon Biersch in Summerlin, one of my favorites and then headed back to the house to turn in for the night.
On Friday we started off at the Premium Outlet stores and then worked our way down to the strip. We stopped for lunch at the Hofbrauhaus- very cool authentic German bar/restaurant. Then it was down to Planet Hollywood. I hadn’t been to the casino since they switched it over from The Aladdin, but very cool, they did a great job! From there we cruised up the strip by foot and stopped at Paris, Caesars and Bellagio before we worked our way back to PH. We got tickets for the comedy show and met up with Megan and Jimmy (friends of ours who live in LV). The comedy show was great, although the last 10 minutes were pretty crazy. As some of you may have heard, Danny Gans passed away on in his sleep Thursday night. In the last part of the comedians act on Friday night, he made a joke about Danny Gans dying, as you are probably guessing none of us laughed. In fact, 3 people made a huge scene and walked out. Then they all came back in and went up to the stage. One of the guys tossed their entire drink in the comedians face and ran out. Security please! So strange, it kept on going for another 5 mintues or so which seems like eternity when you are about to watch someone get their behind kicked out the window. Anyway, the nonsense blew over and show ended. Whew! From there we went to dinner at a mexican joint at PH and caught up with Megan and Jimmy. It was so great to see them!
On Sunday we slept in a bit and then hit the south end of the strip. We started off with an amazing lunch buffet at Mandalay Bay. I ate more than I ever dreamed was possible, but it was so good I couldn’t help myself. Then we took in the Shark Reef at Mandalay. Very cool place–they have even added an octopus since the last time I was there.
Then unfortunately, our time in LV was up. Trev and I headed to the airport late Sat afternoon and caught our flight back. Trev’s parents ended up staying a few more days, lucky them–hope they are still enjoying the sun as it is pouring down here!
