Party planning

I am so excited to be hosting Larissa’s baby shower!! You know me, I love to plan a party and this one is super special due to the fact we get to prepare for little Carson’s arrival soon.

Since the shower is only a month away, Bridgette helped me out BIG TIME and designed the perfect invites for the party. The photo below doesn’t do them justice, but can I just tell you how awesome she is!?! Bridgette always pulls through for me and helps out more than she ever knows. Thanks sister!

The theme for the party is “Good things come in small packages” so we will be doing a lot of fun decorating/game playing/food fun with it. I will make sure to post pics after the shower, I don’t want to spill too much ahead of time and spoil the surprise for the guest of honor. :)

Caster Family Bike Ride

Yesterday Trevor’s parents and nephews came to town and we all went on a bikeride. We started off from Dad’s shop in Garden City and hopped right on the Greenbelt from there.

Here we are just getting ready to start our journey.

First stop: Joe’s crab shack for lunch.
Linda and I ordered some tasty refreshing beverages to enjoy. :)
Mason and Russ shared a huge pan of seafood–they tell me it was delicious.
Then it was off to downtown Boise. We stopped by the River and hung out and then drove by where Race for the Cure was held. From there the group decided to ride out past Warm Springs and make our way to The Crow’s Inn. We didn’t quite get to the Crow’s Inn, but we did make it out to Lucky 13 for some awesome pizza.

Russ and Tanner cruising along on our way to Lucky 13.
The sun was zapping our energy so we pulled over for some much needed shade.
Action shot: Mason and I cruising along. This was the only time Mason wasn’t leading the pack. Boy can that kid ride!
Tanner was such a trooper! We promised him a huge ice cream cone once we got to Lucky 13–he loved it!
After we stuffed our faces and cooled down we headed back to downtown. It had cooled off a bit so the ride back was much easier.

Last action shot: Trev and me riding along the Boise River.
It was a great way to spend the afternoon. Once it was all said and done we traveled round trip 23 miles in the heat of the day. Next time we’ll shoot for early morning or evening when it is a bit cooler outside. But it was a blast to spend the day with the kids and Trev’s parents. We are so lucky to be able to get out and enjoy the weekends!

Arrowrock

Today I went up to Arrowrock with Bridgette and Drake and we met up with some friends. The weather was perfect–not too hot at all. The water was really chilly, but once we were in for a bit it was just right.

Drake was brave and got right in the water. He had the cutest floaty on with a big shark smile across the front. He bounced in and out of the water all afternoon. He also made sure to taste the sand—boys will be boys.

It was a fun getaway for the afternoon. The lake was peaceful and the beaches weren’t too crowded. Another wonderful summer day in Idaho!

Father’s Day

For Father’s Day we were lucky and got to spend it with both of our Dads and Grandpas. We had our families over for a BBQ and had a blast catching up with everyone and really enjoyed all the yummy treats that everyone brought with them.

Even though the weather was trying to make it difficult, we were still able to enjoy the patio and Trev and his Dad manned the grill and cooked up some great food.

It was also Nancy’s (Trevor’s Grandma) birthday so we were able to celebrate her special day with her. And to top off the morning, Trevor’s cousin Brandon and his wife Marsha were in town so we also got to see them and visit. It was a great morning of family fun!

After the BBQ, Russ and Linda joined us and went to Savor Idaho. It was a tasting event that featured all of the wineries in the area at the Idaho Botanical Gardens. Very cool event and despite the bad weather it was still packed! We’ll definitely go back next year for some more.

Patio Cover :: Part II

When we left off at the end of April with our adventures in patio building this is where we were. Finished building, but not with the caulking or the painting.

It seemed that every time we mustered up the energy to tackle the project it would rain. Lucky for us, Monday and Tuesday were the only days we were going to be rain free for a few weeks so we put on our painting srubs and got to it. And now we are happy to say we are ALL DONE! Yay, finally! We even sqeezed in time to paint the back fence too. Trev made it look brand new.

We also put in some curbing and added some flower beds to the backyard. Now our next project is getting the rock and plants to fill them. Stay tuned for that adventure! :)

June Reading

Wow, I was a slacker last month. Guess starting a new job really takes away my leisurely reading time. But not to fear, I plan on picking up the pace and diving into some books that have been sitting on my bookshelf for too long.

Although my May reading was light, I have to tell you that I laughed hysterically through “My Horizontal Life”! Seriously, Chelsea Handler had me crying to where my cheeks hurt from laughing. I even caught myself reading some of it out loud to Trevor. It was so funny I just had to share it with someone. If you have a dry sense of humor and can let go of your inhibitions, the ride with Chelsea is one not to miss. I must warn you though, it is very R-rated. :)
