This is the first year we attended God and Country Family Festival and I am so glad we did! We had a such a great time relaxing outside at the Idaho Center Ampitheater listening to great music and catching up with our family.
The entire event is free to the pulic and to top off the awesome concert, they put on a 20 minute fireworks show that rocks your socks! I am so happy we got to go this year with our family. I always feel recharged and ready for a new day after a great night of uplifting and positive music.
Huge thanks to the organizers of this event. I don’t know how you do it, but we are so thankful that you do. Keep up the good work!

Cheers to Cody as he rings in his 28th birthday! We celebrated with him and the rest of his family on Wednesday. Drake was super cute and helped him blow out his birthday candles and open his presents. He is quite the little helper these days!
Happy Birthday Cody—here’s to hoping this year is even sweeter than the last.
xoxo

I saw this book at Target (my favorite store of all-time) and had to snag it. I really enjoyed the Twilight series and I thought reading a short novella that tied in the secondary characters from Eclipse would pacify me while I am waiting for the next movie to come out.
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner did just that. I give this book at solid B. It kept me entertained and shed a new perspective on a crowd that we only saw one side of before. If you are a Twihard, I would give this book a read. I really hope Stephanie Meyer continues to write novellas of other characters from the series so we can look back at the story in a new light or see from a different perspective. It makes me feel like I am discovering more and more each time about my favorite characters.
So there you have it. Looking for a quick and easy, thrilling read…give this one a shot.

While this post is a few days late, it is still heartfelt. We had a wonderful day celebrating my Dad and my Grandpa on Sunday. We enjoyed a BBQ at Mom and Dad’s house and then cruised over to my Aunt & Uncle’s house for dessert and to see the rest of the family. And of course we all took turns holding little Connor, he is such a sweetie.
I feel so blessed to have my Dad and Grandpa in my life. They both set tremendous examples for me and are always there for me when it matters most. I love you both very much!

I stumbled upon this quote the other day and it spoke so loudly to me that I felt the need to share:
“We have no right to ask when a sorrow comes, ‘Why did this happen to me?’ unless we ask the same question for every joy that comes our way.”

Time sure does fly! I can’t believe this little guy is 23 days old already! He is such a sweetheart and so cuddly. I can’t help myself from playing with his blonde hair—I was so expecting him to have darker hair like his big bro Drake.
Check out these super sweet photos my girl Crissie took of Connor:

I am a HUGE Emily Giffin fan and have read all of her books and enjoyed all 4. Heart of the Matter is a different flavor than her other books, but doesn’t disappoint. This book takes on heavier themes as two women, one married and one not, go through their trials and tribulations with the same man…juicy isn’t it?
I give this book a B+. It was a quick read and I definitely recommend it!

This weekend we went over to Payette and joined Larissa and Allen for a little cowboy fun at Johnny’s Club. We had a blast and it was fun seeing everyone all decked out in their country gear!

Finally, finally we are back to having our home to ourselves! Our unfortunate re-model lasted 8 weeks too long, but now they are officially finished putting our house back together. I wish I could say I was pleased with the process but honestly it was a nightmare. How a super can’t notice a huge patch of ceiling not painted is really beyond me, but I guess it happens. Or leaving a hole in the wall, who’s going to notice? Seriously, I think we were their worst nightmare, but come on how can someone miss these things?!?
But on to the positive side, we have awesome new tile in our master bath and we are fortunate that the water damage wasn’t worse.
All I can say is it is good to have our home back to normal!

Today at church we had a guest speaker, Brent Peterson. He kicked off a new sermon series titled “What do I need to know? Life Lessons from the Heroes of the Bible.” I’m excited to hear the following sermons as today was very interesting.
My most memorable take away from today’s service titled ”God Can Be Trusted” is the following:
There is life only as we are living, loving and trusting in God.
