This past Saturday Trevor and I celebrated his grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary. We are so lucky that not only 1 set of our grandparents celebrated this amazing milestone, but last December my grandparents did as well. Here is to hoping Trev and I make it to 60 years of wedded bliss too. We have great role models to follow that’s for sure.
The party was a surprise to Jack & Nancy and we had the hardest time keeping our mouths shut the past few months. Linda, Larissa and I quietly worked away on the details and came out with a great party for them. It was held at John and Sandy’s house outside in their incredibly beautiful backyard. We played on the “Diamond” anniversary theme and had lots of beautiful silvers throughout the decor. My sister Bridgette designed the custom invitations and we used white roses throughout the tables.
We had about 70 family members and friends gather to celebrate two people who are deeply in love. It was a great way to recognize such a wonderful commitment.
We love you!

So last night my hubby was craving a home cooked meal after driving around in a car for 8 hours. I didn’t have much on hand, but thought I could pull off some spaghetti. Lucky for me, I found this recipe.
I only made a few tweaks and it was super easy. I must tell you this sauce is incredible! It has a kick to it, so if you don’t like a hint of heat, then this dish probably isn’t for you.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions
- In a saucepan, combine olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and red peppers and lightly saute over high heat.
- Reduce heat to low and mix in tomatoes and tomato paste. Gradually stir in brown sugar and let simmer.

Ok, I have to admit that when Trevor told me he ordered a juicer off of an infomercial I was a little perturbed. Did we really need a juicer? Was it going to be a pile and a total waste of money? I am happy to say I was wrong, VERY WRONG. Our juicer may just be my new favorite thing. You are probably thinking I need to get out more right? Either way, this juicer rocks my socks. It is the Jack LaLanne Juicer Pro and it is magic.
The first cocktail Trev made me was a carrot and apple juice mix. I was a little nervous as I do not enjoy carrots much at all, but to my surprise it was delicious! Next up he made me try a broccoli, celery, tomato mix and I was extremely nervous about it. But to my shock, it was also tasty. It tasted so much like the tomato I didn’t even taste the broccoli. My favorite mix though is orange and mango, so refreshing and yummy. Now sadly not every juice combo can be this good. Sunday morning I caused a minor scene in the kitchen when I drank a spinach, celery, brocolette (cross between kale and broccoli) and tomato juice. My stomach was not pleased as I gave it my all to hold down my breakfast. So I can’t say ALL juices are great…but MOST are delish. Just make sure your hubby doesn’t sneak a bunch of gross stuff in one while you aren’t looking.
I have also noticed a big increase in my energy. I have been able to work longer hours without feeling super groggy and I feel much more alert during those hours. Could be coincidence, maybe not.
So for those of you who are thinking of getting a juicer, the Casters highly recommend it. We love it and the juicer is a cinch to use. Happy juicing!

My hubby turned 3o on Friday so we welcomed a new decade with a fun fiesta! Lots of cerveza and pina coladas were had along with lots of laughs with our friends and family. Thank you everyone for coming out to celebrate Trev—we had a blast!
I was hoping to get Trev in a sombrero for his birthday song, but he made me promise not to humiliate him so I refrained. Instead we have a very normal photo below–wouldn’t the sombrero have added so much?
Cheers to a great decade ahead!

This Labor Day weekend we got away and enjoyed ourselves in Vegas. We met up with my parents and had a blast! We stayed lowkey most of the weekend, but Saturday night we played on the Strip. Trev really wanted to go to the Hofbrauhaus so we had dinner and brew (and the best pretzel ever) and then cruised over to Caesars Palace where Mom and I saw Chelsea Handler. Her show was hilarious! If you ever have the chance to see her live, DO IT! You can check out my post about it here.
Thanks Mom & Dad for a fun weekend!

Chelsea Handler may be the funniest woman on the face of the planet. Along with funny, she is also very naughty. I have read all three of her books (Are You There Vodka, It’s Me Chelsea?, My Horizontal Life, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang) and each one has left me with tears streaming down my face and a tummy ache from all of the laughing.
So you can only imagine my excitement when I booked tickets to see her in Vegas! My favorite gal, my favorite get-away city and to top it off, I get to take the world’s best Mom along with me!
The show was this weekend and my awesome Mom and I enjoyed every single second of it. Her opening act was hilarious and she more than exceeded my very high expectations. Ahh, if only I could have recorded it so I could play it over and over and over anytime I need a laugh. Thank you Chelsea for a night of laughter–it was much needed and loved!

I just finished Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and LOVED it! I am not surprised though, the first two books in the series (Hunger Games and Catching Fire) were amazing as well. I wonder if this series will go Hollywood too? Only time will tell I suppose. But back to the book. I give an A-. The book picks up where Catching Fire left off and takes us on a journey with Katniss as she fights the horrible and evil Capitol. This book is definitely more dark than the first two as our heroine has grown up drastically since her first step in the Hunger Games arena. Not every story has a fairytale ending and Mockingjay is no exception. The book is packed with suspense, betrayal, love and heartache. I finished it in 2 days–I did not want to put it down!
I loved all 3 books and am so sad that this is the end of the series. It is always hard when you find one you really enjoy to say goodbye to the stories and characters you loved so much. I know, I know, I am a totally book nerd. Pick up this series and read it–I promise you will enjoy the stories and characters.
