NYC Trip– SoHo

We started off our week long trip to NYC in SoHo. This was only my second time to the city and my last visit didn’t include a stop in SoHo so I was very much looking forward to it. Talk about shopping variety! Huge brands would be next to small shops and there was everything under the sun to be seen. We had a lot of fun checking everything out.

Our first night we stopped in at Boqueria for dinner and LOVED it. I am a huge fan of tapas style dining and this place did not disappoint. Our server was amazing and recommended fab food from start to finish. My personal favorite was strawberries drizzled in citrus flavored honey with crushed black pepper. Who would have thought? Amazing and I will definitely be trying to recreate.

Thursday morning Trevor’s parents joined us and we had breakfast at Balthazar.  Yum, yum, yum.  Trevor of course feasted on eggs benedict, his ultimate breakfast food, and I devoured my french toast in 5 minutes.  And not because it was small, just that good.  We finished off the morning with a stroll through SoHo and did a little shopping ourselves.  We stopped in for lunch at The Dutch and Russ and I enjoyed a tasty Bloody Mary before we hit the road to head out to Long Island.  I felt a drink before we hit the NYC traffic in a rental car was very much needed.  And I was right.  While Trevor was a pro in the crazy traffic, I broke into sweat trying to navigate him through the crazed roads filled with ruthless cabbies.  We made it though in a short (long) 2 hours.

We rushed to drop our bags at the hotel and cruised over to the wedding rehearsal.  Gorgeous church and it was wonderful to see Phil and Sarah after nearly 1o months!  After rehearsal we drove to Westbury for dinner at The Westbury Manor.  Wow.  I think I said that word a lot on this trip.  The venue was beautiful and the 5 course meal we had was delicious.  I was full before our salads were even served.  That could have been the bartender’s fault.  He kept filling Linda and my glasses with French martinis before we could even get up and request a refill.  Love!  All in all our first 2 days were filled with lots of sights and even more food.  Hooray!
