A Thankful Heart

Wow. 2011 was all over the place. I started this post back in December and just never finished it. Better late than never. In 2010, I posted all of my blessings for the year and I felt compelled to do the same this year. My heart is full of love and gratitude for the life I have, thank you for being a part of it.

January: Valley Shepherd- I am so happy to belong to a church I love and to a faith that molds me to be more compassionate.
February: Modern medicine- Finding out I am ok and will get to have babies someday. All I needed was a tiny little Thyroid pill.
March: Travel- Taking a trip with Trevor to Solvang. The place we were when I first knew I had fallen in love with him.
April: My nephews — these two perfect little people make my heart full.
May: Triumph- Grandma B beat breast cancer in 2008 and has walked in 3 Race for the Cure events since. My favorite survivor!
June: Opportunity- Joining the Scentsy team has challenged me to be a harder worker and a better person in my community.
July: Friendship – Late nights and laughter on a fun-filled girls weekend!
August: Life and Love- Meeting my dear friend Crissie’s firstborn, beautiful. And then witnessing my dear friend Lindzee marry the love of her life, beautiful again.
September: Health — welcoming my niece Alivia into the world. Her ride started out a bit bumpy but with answered prayers she made a quick recovery.
October: My dear sister — she knows me like no other and loves me more for it. My best friend in the whole world.
November: Faith. Learning that Trevor and I were expecting a baby and praying that we would get to meet this tiny little being.
December: My family. Getting to spend some quality time with all of you.

Cheers to 2011, 2012 we are ready for you!

Chloe’s Birthday!

My favorite little furball turned 5 today. This past year she has really grown up and mellowed out. Not a lot, but there has been a noticeable difference. Oh how I love my Chloe Bear, she always knows how to turn my frown upside down and snuggle me just right. I love her to pieces. Happy birthday Chloe!

Still here

Oh my. How has an ENTIRE month gone by already. Eeks! I can happily report that Thanksgiving was wonderful. We hosted our annual brunch with my family and then joined Trevor’s family for a great dinner. Our Christmas lights are up, tree decorated and stockings hung. I love this time of year. So many happy faces and so much to be thankful for.

So three cheers to enjoying this special time of year with the ones you love!

Let’s ring in the New Year

I am very ready for 2010 to be done, over, finis. The last half of this year has been a tough one with two miscarriages and a layoff all wrapped into a less than thrilling package.  I am hoping for better things in 2011.  However, the year was not all downs. I really do have much to be thankful for.  I am healthy, I have an incredible hubby who loves me dearly, friends who make me smile and a family that I cannot even begin to put into words what they mean to me.

Believe me when I say these wonderful blessings are not ignored.    Below is my recap of them:

January: Memories — ringing in the New Year at the cabin McCall, perhaps my favorite place of all
February: UPWARD — being involved helped me see how something small can make a huge difference
March: Laughter — my amazingly funny and talented girlfriends can always make me smile
April: My Dad — always willing to lend a hand or a shoulder when I need it
May: Life — welcoming my 5th nephew Connor into the world
June: My Sister — sharing secrets and excitement like we were little girls again
July: Love — jumping for joy when I found out Lindzee and Javier are engaged
August: Our trip to Chicago — it’s incredible what a little travel can do to lift a down spirit
September: My Mom — laughing and crying and laughing some more until I felt better
October: I turned 30 with a whole lot of love — making it the most special birthday to date
November: Health — finding out Grandma Rene was going to be ok and was released from the hospital
December: My husband — for finding the light at the end of the tunnel, without him I couldn’t have weathered the storms of this year

So out the door with 2010…2011 I am waiting with welcoming arms!

AOE

Today I said goodbye too early to a sorority sister.  Renae Simmonsen passed away last week and her memorial service was today.  Hundreds of people turned out to remember her and the life she lived.  Although I wasn’t close with Renae, every memory I have of her is one with a large smile across her face and pure love pouring out from her.  She loved life and made sure those around felt the same.

I am proud to have called her an Alpha Phi sister.  I pray her family is comforted by knowing how many people Renae touched in her brief 29 years.  Rest in peace Renae- AOE.

Jax where art thou?

Ok, I am having withdrawls.  Sons of Anarchy is my new bad habit and I am fresh out.  Trevor and I watched Season 1 last weekend and then I slammed through Season 2 while he was away hunting this week.  Then I found the first 3 episodes of Season 3 on Hulu and watched them tonight.  I have a problem, I know, I know.

But now I have to wait until December for the next episodes to be loaded to Hulu.  I don’t know if I will make it.  Will Jax find Abel?  Will Jemma make it out of the country?  Oh how I need to know.

In the meantime I guess this photo of Jax aka Charlie Hunnam will have to tid us over.
