Race for the Cure 2010

Today was race day and boy was it exciting!!  Records were broken all over the place–attendance at an all time high of 16,000 and donations over $243,000 as of now.  Yay!

Think Pink had a great team of people this year and we had a blast walking/running for a great cause!  And to top it off, our shirt sales were through the roof!  It is so exciting to be able to donate to Komen and let them do wonderful things with it that benefit our community.

Thank you everyone that came out and supported Komen today, you all make a difference!

Congrats Mason!

Today I went to Ontario to watch my nephew compete in his District Track Meet. He has been doing great this year in the 800, 400 and relay race and he has been killing it in the mile race.

I am happy to report that he placed first at District in the mile event!! He finished his mile in 5.21 minutes and considering it was a mild tornado in Ontario today, that was incredible!

Congratulations Mason, we are so proud of you. I have a feeling we have a track star in the making.

Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang

For starters, I believe Chelsea Handler is the funniest woman alive! I think her dry sense of humor (and at most times vulgar descriptions of life) are beyond hilarious. I keep wishing for her to announce a stand-up tour. That would be one night of non-stop laughter I will be partaking in.

But back to the book. I give Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang an A. I read this book so fast it made me sad there were not volumes more to read. I was laughing within 3 minutes of starting the book and laughed HARD all the way through. This woman is beyond unbelievable when it comes to playing practical jokes on her friends and loved ones. See chapter 4. I am just happy she wrote it all down for us to laugh at.

Here’s to hoping she keeps on writing. This book was her 3rd (1st two: My Horizontal Life and Are you there Vodka? It’s me Chelsea) and I can only hope for countless more. Hands down, you must read this book. Even if it is only to give you a break from the more serious literary books in your queue. Enjoy!

Race for the Cure 2010

Next Saturday is Race for the Cure Boise 2010! Very exciting time to rally behind and support a cause that is dear to my heart.
I am crossing my fingers that the weather holds out for us and warms up more than this week–otherwise we are going to be bundled up walkers that’s for sure! I hope to see many of you at Race enjoying the amazing event and atmosphere that is charged with love and hope.
I am asking family and friends to donate to this cause if you are able to. Any amount is helpful and helps get us one step closer to a cure. To donate click here.
See you at Race!

Prep

I just finished reading Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld last night. I read American Wife by her as well and LOVED it, so I thought I would give this one a shot too. I have to say American Wife is much, much better as my friend Vanessa warned me.

It isn’t that Prep is a bad book. The characters are likeable, the story is interesting, but I didn’t have the burning desire to hurry and pick it up to find out more. It took me forever to finish this book and I think that was in part to the lack of draw I had to it.

However, it was well written and a story I couldn’t necessarily predict from the beginning. I can’t say I would recommend this book, given so many other awesome ones I have read lately. But if you are fresh out of book ideas it is not a snore either.

Happy reading!

Birthday fun for Bridgette

Last Friday we celebrated my sister’s birthday by continuing the tradition of dinner at Texas Roadhouse. That cinnamon butter gets me every time, so delicious.

After dinner we enjoyed cake and fun at the Rutz house. I can’t believe my sister is 27 now, eek! That means the big 3-0 is right around the corner.

Happy birthday to you Bridgette and may this year be sweeter than the last. Love you!

No more leaks

So as some of you have heard, we found out last week our master bathroom tub has been leaking since, well, probably day 1. Last Thursday I came home to find a water bubble in the ceiling of our living room. Yikes! So to make a long story short, we are having some home repairs done to restore our home to how it should have been. I came home today to a crazy looking bubble room in our living room and master bath.

Here’s to hoping our home is back to normal by the end of the month!

April Showers bring….

Lots of love for my sister Bridgette!  This past Saturday we showered her with gifts and fun as we anxiously await the delivery of sweet little Connor in June.

We had a great afternoon with many gracious family and friends — that little boy is already spoiled rotten!

I had so much fun planning the shower!  This time around I did a French circus theme and played with the bright colors of a circus in a more elegant manner (Bozo wasn’t allowed into this party).  For entertainment we rocked out to songs that included the word “Baby” in the title and guests had to guess both the title and artist.  Some were pretty tricky but I tossed a few easy ones in there…I mean who doesn’t know “Baby, Baby” by Amy Grant right?

All in all it was a great afternoon and I am so happy I could celebrate my sister and her soon to be little boy. Bisous sister!

Tanner turns 8!

We celebrated Tanner’s birthday on Saturday in Fruitland.  I can’t believe he is 8 years old!

They kids knocked out a few pinatas, played football and jumped on the trampoline till their hearts were content.  It was a fun time watching him run around with his buddies and enjoy his day.  We love you Tanner!
